ASUS Zenbook Prime

Having been invited to an event that involves gadgets is what I need right now. Don't get me wrong. I'm far from being techie. My main reason is that my laptop for 6 years now has recently gave up on me. The big and heavy laptop who served me for years and has been my partner to connect with the virtual world is not functioning anymore. I hope you could all hear the regret in my voice.

Last May 28, ASUS unveiled their newest Ultrabook: the ASUS Zenbook Prime. It was held at Opus Bar and Lounge, Resorts World Manila.

I already prepared my self to witness a presentation about technical stuffs that only techie geeks would completely understand. Being a kid who knows too little about gadgets, I know somewhere in the middle of it, I'll get bored. But I was wrong. I found my self all ears as I listen to Mrs. Jamie Zaldivar, ASUS Marketing Manager. She provided the audience with a presentation about the 5 Sense Experience that will bring customer happiness. These consists of Beauty, Sound, Touch, IOIC (Instant On- Instant Connect), and Cloud.

Beauty delivers uniqueness and elegance with the Asus notebook's new design. Sound features the Asus SonicMaster technology which brings notebook audio to life. With Touch, Asus enlarged the touchpad and provides more smooth multi- gesture with scroll, swipe, rotate, zoom in & out. IOIC (Instant On- Instant Connect) provides solution through 2 seconds resume and up to 2 weeks standby time. Lastly, Cloud provides convenience with the help of MyBitCast App, where users can quickly sync the rotates, photos and audio recording data to various devices at once.

I immediately fell in love with its appearance.

Take a look at the enlarged touchpad.

Keyboard with backlight makes it easier to type in the dark.
I can't wait to save money because this is the perfect one to replace my old, huge and heavy laptop. :)

Diana Stalder: The Promise of a Better You

LIFEHOUSE Live in Manila!

Are you fond of rock music and adore rock bands? If yes, then there's no doubt you very well know Lifehouse!

L-R: Bryce Soderberg (bass guitar), Jason Wade (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Rick Woolstenhulme Jr. (drums) and  Ben Carey (lead guitar)

Lifehouse is an American rock band which success started when their international hit single "Hanging by a Moment" was released and became the Most Played Song in 2001. This song gave way for the band to be recognized commercially. Other chart-topping hits include You and Me, Blind, Whatever It Takes which were all under MCA music.

Most of us were familiar with the TV series Smallville and Scrubs wherein most of the band's songs were also featured. Everything was used in the series Smallville, All in All in Scrubs while Good Enough was played over the credits of the Disney Film The Wild.

Their latest album, Smoke & Mirrors, debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 marking the highest chart debut of their 10-year career. It sold 500,000 units in the United States and over two million worldwide, owning the charts for twenty consecutive weeks. Wow.

Before their most-awaited concert on May 26, a press conference was held last May 24 at Garden Room 3, Marriott Manila. The event was hosted by Ms. Cesca Litton.

The band members were all game to answer the questions being asked to them :)

The band's ability to evoke emotions and effectively translate it into a song was what gained them their massive fan base over the years. Their songs were played repeatedly by loyal listeners worldwide and captured the hearts of millions and left them wanting more.:)

And for those who missed the American rock band's concert last July 2008, now is your chance to see them again! LIFEHOUSE is set to perform on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Tickets are available at all Ticketnet outlets or call 911-5555 for more information.

Medicard : 25 years of Building a Healthy Nation

With nearly half a million members and over 11,000 accredited doctors, specialists and dentists in over 500 hospitals, who would have thought that the Medicard of today started with just one man's vision to set aside P1.00 a day for healthcare?

This man is Dr. Nicanor D. Montoya, who believed that if a person could save this small amount of money everyday, he could already afford his hospitalization. From this basic philosophy, MediCard (Philippines) Inc. was born.

Medicard, which mission is to provide quality comprehensive healthcare services to manual Filipinos at cost they could afford, celebrated its 25 years of building a healthy nation last May 15 at Makati Shangri la Hotel, Rizal Ballroom.

The venue is filled with guests and sumptous foods.

The program started and were hosted by Ms. Iya Villania and Mr. Ryan Agoncillo.

Dr. Nicanor D. Montoya giving a speech on how Medicard began.

Artists from TV5 also entertained us by performing astounding song numbers.

On the said event, Medicard unveiled a refreshed corporate logo which consists of four Rx symbols that rotate clockwise forming a single icon to convey the message to Medicard clients that they can avail of affordable medical services round the clock through its partner doctors and medical institutions.

This symbolizes its rebirth after 25 years of being a pioneering HMO in the Philippines. This logo is part  of a corporate strategy that stresses the company's brand promise of giving the best healthcare available. The new logo also embodies MediCard's corporate culture.

"We place an extremely strong emphasis on doing business the right way for both our customers and our employees. That means caring for them and treating them more as partners, being responsive, and anticipating their needs", Dr. Montoya said.

I scream for Sebastian's Ice Cream! :)

I'm the kind of person who prefers to eat spicy and salty foods instead of sweets. I do like sweets. But if you were to place in front of me a bowl of sliced hilaw na mangga (green mangoes) with bagoong and a box of ferrero rocher then make me choose, there's no doubt i'll choose the first one! Lalo na kung may sili! Haha!

But there is one exception to this: ICE CREAMS. Since I was a kid, I've always loved eating ice cream. One reason is that it's easy to eat with it's smooth and soft texture. I enjoy savoring it's sweet and simple flavors, especially on a sunny day. I love any ice cream flavor but some of my favorites were Pistachio, Vanilla, Rocky Road and Cookies&Cream.

Just yesterday, my best friend Joanne and I decided to try this ice cream stall located at The Block, SM North Edsa (4th floor) called Sebastian's

What's so cool about them is that they offer unique ice cream flavorsss! Their best selling flavors include Sapin- Sapin, Champorado, Mangga't Suman, Once in a Blue Moon (Blue CheeseIce Cream), Banana Bonanza (banana ice cream with chunks of dark chocolate and walnuts), Mango Sans Rival and a lot moreeeeeeeee! NKKLK!! Haha! I love how their flavors are very Filipino. :)

Joanne and I ordered one scoop of Champorado flavor. Once I tasted it, ang sarap mag cartwheel sa saraaaaaaaaap! Hahahaha! Yun lang hindi ako marunong mag cartwheel, so napa smile nalang ako ng bongga. It really tastes so, soooooooo GOOD! Lasang champorado talaga! Haveyyy! :) And one more thing that we liked about it was that it has tidbits of rice, so para ka talagang kumakain ng champorado. For me, it tastes more like a champorado with ice cream rather than an ice cream with champorado ingredients.

It's also a lot different from all the regular ice creams. It's thicker, fuller and tastier. Only, it's a bit pricey because they sell at 100php/scoop. But for me you get what you pay for because one scoop is enough to satisfy us. It tastes insanely good. :)

My bestfriend and I will definitely be back to try more flavors! Our next target: Sapin- sapin! :)

Filipino Bloggers Hub: A Simple Acquaintance Party

Text Box: 1:00PM

In the cyber world where all bloggers are moving-in has become more challenging due to different trends that have been born from time to time in every click and tick of their finger on the mouse. As the blogger pursue their passion, they tend to produce more effective write-ups that are based on their experiences, observation and even with their own opinion.

Today, blogging becomes a good portal of advertisement and online promotion because it can give a huge impact and easy to access information upon clicking the publish button. In just one click, everything went to life as it was being shared and like by others instantly upon uploaded.

Given that bloggers exist every minute and seconds in every social-networking site as well as in the blogging flat form. While giving the readers and other people to have the latest updates as well as entertainment in their web sites or blog sites. But wait a minute; did all bloggers who read other sites blog knew the author personally or acquaintance? I think, not!

Perhaps, some know each other while others tend to get intimidated or something as they see each other in different places. Why? Maybe because they never get a chance to be introduced to each other.

Moreover, the blogosphere in the Philippines is just a small piece of the universal blogosphere. Where is so impossible to know the person one by one in a particular websites or blog site?  And so, bloggers created an event that we called “Filipino Bloggers Hub Party” to get a chance to see, meet and know the person behind in every blog that we read, follow and subscribe to.

On the 19th of May 2012, 1:00pm at the Central Colleges of the Philippines, bloggers around the Metro will gather to have a simple acquaintance party with full of surprises, giveaways, fun games and raffles.  This is the chance to meet and know other bloggers, and this is the day that all bloggers will unite and promise to continue what started intelligently as to give people good, and balance information that people want to know.

Bookbed's Thank You Giveaway!

Last year, I stumbled upon this online store on Facebook which sells books called Bookbed. The description from their Facebook page goes like this:
My books overflow from my shelves onto my night side tableand my bed. This is my way to make space... and share my love for reading! So come, bed my books! Let's read 'till we fall in love and asleep.

Around November of 2011, I ordered 7 books from them and have them shipped to my place! I must say, each of the seven books I bought were all worth-reading. Two of them were even included to my list of favorite books! Last December, I was very lucky to win a book giveaway from them. Yayyy! The book is Messenger by Lois Lowry.

It was also in Bookbed where I bought the book I've long been wanting to have, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. So far, all of the books I bought from them were really good reads. :)

Here's some good news!

In the name of 500 likes on Facebook and the upcoming Mother’s Day, bookbed is giving away two books each to five bookbed mates! Here are ways on how to join:

Like bookbed on Facebook! (+1 point)
Follow @bookbedph on Twitter! (+1 point)
Share this post on your blog and tweet the link to @bookbedph or post it on the Facebook page! (+2 points)
Tweet about the giveaway! Example: “@bookbedph is giving away 2 books each to five lucky bookbed mates!” (Be sure your account is on public view.) (+1 point/tweet)
Share this post on your Facebook profile. (Again, make sure the post is made public!) (+2 points/share)

Winners, three of which to be picked via random.org and two to be chosen by the number of points accumulated, will be announced on the blog on May 13th. They will have to confirm their slots via email within 48 hours and shoulder the shipping fees. In case a winner fails to confirm, another entry will be chosen. Good luck!

Chef Hasset Go Bloggers' Night at Il Mercanti, Metrowalk

Almost all of us were familiar with the saying, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. You see, if a girl wants to impress a man, would do everything to capture his attention and win his heart.. she must simply learn how to cook good FOOD! But for girls who loves to eat like me, I have to say that a way to a girl's heart is also through her stomach! That is the reason why ever since, I really admire guys who knows how to cook, and plus points if he is good in cooking delicious foods. So whenever I watch cooking demo shows on the television, I was easily delighted watching them toss and turn whatever yummy food they were cooking. Their hands were so graceful and foods turn into a work of art!

That is why when I was invited to an event last May 5 called Chef Hasset Go Bloggers Night: The Il Mercanti Experience at Il Mercanti Food Bazaar in Metrowalk, I was very delighted to go! I know I'll be witnessing a live cooking demo by an amazing chef- Chef Hasset Go. :)

The event was attended by bloggers, social media influencers, media, sponsors, as well as the friends and family of the young and multi-awarded chef and Sweets Master- Chef Hasset Go which marked the launching of Chef Hasset Go’s website, www.chefhassetgo.com.

After the opening remarks by Ms. Analou de Castro, Marketing Manager of Il Mercanti Food Bazaar, one of the concessionaires of the food bazaar, Chef Nando of Los Hermanos cooked in front of us his famous Paella. It looks so yummy!! And the good part was that we got to taste it! What can I say, two thumbs up pati paa! Haha!

Foods were served  courtesy of the concessionaires of Il Mercanti Food Bazaar: Los Hermanos, Tita Carol, Philly Mignon, Cusina Marina, Macaros, Corndog, Pasta Boulivar, and Tess Ihaw.

For everyone's information, this 25 year-old Chef right here is very admirable!  Aside from his *ehem* good looks, Chef Hasset is a product of Heny Sison Culinary School, Owner of MedChef Homemade Cakes and Pastries, Co-owner of Desserts Strip of Chef Maribel in Cagayan De Oro, Chef Instructor of Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro, One of the chefs behind Chefs and Foodservice Community of the Philippines and Global Excellence and People's Choice Awardee as an Outstanding Young Chef by Asia Pacific Awards.

Whew! That was a lot! At a very young age, he already achieved a lot of accomplishments :)

And then the most awaited part and the highlight of the event: The live demo cooking of Chef Hasset Go!
Chef Hasset with hosts DJ Churley of 101.9 Tambayan and Ms. Kathy Solis of ABS-CBN

Chef Hasset prepared a delicioso dish using King Sue products which added to the savory taste! :)

Next, Chef Hasset made a mouth-watering pastry tower topped with Puratos Carat Ganache!! Nomnomnom!! A group of two bloggers will have a chance to eat this and the group that will finish first will win! Of course, I cannot let this one pass. I have to taste it so I joined! Haha Although our group didn't win, I still feel like a winner because it's so yummeeehhh :)

The live cooking demos were followed by a Cake Fashion Show showcasing the cakes that are to be featured in Chef Hasset Go’s soon-to-be-launched recipe book entitled “Desserts to Go”

Malunggay cake

Ube Jackfruit and Chocolate cake

Papaya Cheesecake

Calamansi Meringue Pie

It was a great night full of entertainment, laughter, and delicious FOODS! The night ended with closing remarks from Mark Joseph Delgado of Mediactiv8.

Please visit Chef Hasset Go's FB Page :)
