Manila Ocean Park: a tech savvy marine theme park

A few years back, I remember going to Manila Ocean Park for the first time together with my high school best buds. Those were the times where I didn't care much about taking a lot of pictures whenever I go to a new place or post Twitter updates, contrary to what I always do now. Hee hee. :p

I'm honestly not aware if MOP has access to wifi back then, so when I was tagged along to an event in MOP last April 28, I was both very surprised and excited to know that Manila Ocean Park is a tech-savvy marine theme park! Woohooo! :)

First, the entire park facility becomes a WiFi zone so guests can now check their emails while strolling around the park, snap some photo of the colorful jellies or huge sharks and share photos instantly, almost as if your online friends are enjoying the moment with you! :)

Second, I know all of us would agree that Facebook and Twitter were two favorite tools and most used social networking sites by Filipinos. We use these sites to connect with our loved ones both local and abroad, post status updates and share photos with friends. The virtual world has been more accessible due to the latest gadgets currently available in the metro, which makes it more appealing to tech-savvy youth and able to adapt to the new features and enhancements.

So what really is this tech-savvy thing about MOP i've been blabbing about? You see, Manila Ocean Park recently acquired an innovative IT solution from Europe! Sowsyaaaaaaaal! :) Europe na ang leveling :) Guests can now log in using their Facebook and Twitter account by means of the e-wrist tag that they will be provided. This stores their social media information and allows them to share their status updates and even photos right at that instant to their online friends! Cooooooooool! :)

This technological breakthrough device will be seen in the different popular attractions such as the Oceanarium, Trails to Antartica, Marine Life Habitat, Jellies Exhibit, Liquid Pool and Lounge Acquatica.

At syempre, hindi ako papahuli! I tried this e-wrist tag everyone is fuzzing about on the event. I paid Php100 to avail of the e-wrist tag. After activating the e-wrist tag with my social media information, I simply tapped it on the device and...... voila! My Facebook account already posted a status that says something like this..
"I'm here at Liquid for AQUA-having a refreshing dip in the jacuzzi and dancing to the coolest sounds! Come on over here at Manila Ocean Park! We'll be here till dawn :)"
I laaaaaaavvvvvvv eeeeeeeeeeettt! I sound like one cool kid enjoying the night! Hah! I wasn't able to try posting a picture though, but I will try it the next time I go back.. and I will definitely go back! :) Another good thing about it was that you have a choice whether to keep it as a souvenir or return the e-wrist tag and they will give your Php100 back! And being the kuripot that I am, I claimed my Php100 back! Hahahaha!

Here were a couple of photos:

Third, the QR Code:

Aside from Facebook and Twitter updates, MOP also has this QR (Quick Response) Code that students who go to the park for field trip can benefit from. The QR Code consists of square dots arranged on a white bacground. Information seen in the labels of the attractions such as various types of fishes can be scanned using the QR Code and stored in mobile gadgets, which makes this tool convenient. You can also access the website of MOP and browse current promos and events using this code, plus, it displays text and images making it easy to check out the latest happenings in the integrated resort destination.you

So what are  you all waiting for? Get your ass off the chair and go to Manila Ocean Park for a wonderful and tech-savvy experience! :)
